Almost Minyan

Mourning Ritual and Print Series
Sivan 5780/June 2020

Physically and socially distanced, emotionally close mourning of racial violence by challenging tradition.

The printed edition of 9, not a full minyan of 10, was a way of mourning anti-Black violence, including the murder of George Floyd an all those whose names we don’t know. Adapting tradition, this ritual was performed absent of an organized Jewish community, but was held by Mickey and their younger sister AJ.

The images from this ritual were also used in the digital collage series Neither No(u)r
